Dragonflies surrounded by irises on this mini collection. The illustrations on these bag were influenced by art nouveau designs and the wetlands.
Dragonflies are one of the first insects to inhabit this planet, they have been around for 300 million years. In some Native American traditions, it is also symbol of the departed souls. For the Mayan, the dragonfly is the emblematic animal of the goddess of creativity, Ix Chel. It is said that the dragonfly’s wings and magical songs revived her after she almost got killed.
Iris takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, which is also the name for the Greek goddess of the rainbow, Iris. In Christianity, the iris represents Our Lady of Sorrows as its sharp leaves are like swords.
